These restaurants are mentioned because they stood out as good or better than average so if you are in the area where they are located and you need to eat stop there. The ones with the 🫜 (root vegetable emoji) are outstanding.

 LONDON - BATH - CARDIFF-BRIGHTON

🫜 Permit Room Portobello - excellent Indian food in Notting Hill.

The Grenadier - pub in Belgravia, standard pub food but cool atmosphere kind of hidden, stories about at those that haunts the place and how to pay back his debt.

Kricket - Indian small plates place in SoHo (several other locations). Menu is very interesting, need to go back to try more because those were good.

🫜 Casa Tua - small Italian place in Camden, food was excellent, wine was good, hidden gem.

Morito - small plates Mediterranean in Exmouth Market, cool vibe if you get a table outside foods good if not a little pricey.

The Parakeet Pub- Sunday Roast, excellent Sunday Roast, the menus don’t differ too much but this was a good one to be the first. Sticky Toffee Pudding amazing. We had apps here a day earlier and they were very good as well.

Sally Lunn’s - restaurant from the 1600’s in Bath. You have to try the buns if you’re there.

🫜 Alexander the Great - Greek place in Camden, near the gym. Excellent food, good prices. Good wine. Free baklava, discount for gym members what could go wrong.

Welsh House - good pub stuff if you’re in Cardiff. Welsh rarebit worth trying.

Old Eagle - good Stonehenge Fries with sauces and other stuff to try. Right around the corner good vibe, We made it our "local".

Water Rats - another pub with a good vibe. First place Bob Dylan played in England (different name). Jim’s favorite.

The Botanist -  On the bay in Cardiff, second Sunday Roast. Good food, big portions. Crazy desert, cheesecake, ice cream, caramel etc. in an edible flowerpot, with a spade for a spoon.

🫜 The Winkle - seafood spot in Brighton, amongst a lot of restaurants that seem to serve the same thing; i.e. fish n chips, this place had a bunch of great small plates (looked like the entrees were good too).

Strand Palace - Afternoon Tea (Mamma Mia themed!). Necessarily over priced. Food and tea were good, desserts were amazing. Also scones with clotted cream amazing.

Dashoom - highly rated Indian place with multiple locations in London. Long lines for dinner and only take reservations for 6+ parties.  Food was good. Atmosphere not so great, service felt kind of rushed, would have liked to try another place.

LUXEMBOURG

🫜 Domaine la Foret - high end in Remich, Luxembourg.  Michelin star adjacent, food was great, sitting outside with a view of the countryside awesome. Get a bottle of the local wine, amazing.

Bella Ciao - good Italian food in Luxembourg City, make a good gin and tonic as well.

JUNCO- a few train stops from Luxembourg City center but really good food. Cod was especially good as was the chocolate mousse dessert. Lots of bees until the sun went down.

STOCKHOLM

🫜 Kvarnen - First proper Swedish meal in Sodermalm. Food was great (mushroom stuffed dumplings).  Cool place. First “snaps” need to work on the routine. Cool atmosphere don’t bring alcohol into the bathroom.

🫜Sessanta  - pizza and pasta place we stumbled upon. Try the truffle oil and salami pizza, we ordered it by mistake but it’s good as are the others. Good vibe owner is such a nice guy, good music.

Harvest Home - Typical Swedish food seems like a neighborhood place. Somewhat affordable for the area. Fried herring was great.

Pat’s Corner - place to go if you can’t get Into Pats next door. Small plate Thai. Really great food, limited menu. Ok vibe.

Meatballs for the People - Meatballs of all varieties, even without meat. Limited menu but that’s what people lineup for. Since we’ve been here almost always a line. Crowded inside but food and drinks (Lingonberry Soda) very good.

🫜Restaurant Eld- located in the Viking Museum (don’t be put off by that) amazing food, limited menu, decent view, high prices but worth it. Try the moose tenderloin and the honey cake. Contender for best meal so far. Can't Wait to go back and do their Mead Tasting!

🫜 🫜 Restaurang Ärla - have to revise the rating system to give the rare two root vegetable emojis. This is a different (higher) class of restaurant that lived up to the hype. The “four favorites” menu is what you should get. Some ingredients are standards (chicken) others I’d never heard of (Esplette Pepper) but the freshness of the ingredients and skillful preparation elevates the combos to really unique and amazing dishes. Also, one of the chef’s and owners (Patric) spent a lot of time not only explaining the menu but just hanging out and Schmoozing with us in general.

Vaxholms Hembygdsgårds Café (Vaxholm). Just for Fika. Kakbuffe (cake buffet) crazy assortment, amazing taste, great scenery right on the water.

🫜Vanak  - outside the city (in Kista) but reachable by T-ban (last stop) and worth the trip. Authentic Persian food, extensive menu, good value. Try the Kashk bademjan, the Tachin Morgh and for desert off the menu item, carrot juice and saffron ice cream.

Kajsas Fisk/Hotorgshallen -  food court in Norrmalm, particular restaurant was good and reasonably priced but going to Hotorgshallen is worth the trip just to see the variety and peruse the booths and restaurants. If you go to Kajsas Fisk get the fish soup.

Messob - Ethiopian restaurant in Upsalla. Good food reasonable prices. I forgot that you eat with your hands, if you’re in the set of people who are visiting Upsalla and crave Ethiopian food, go here.

🫜 Timmermans 1857 - High end spot, not exactly budget friendly but great food for the money. More Italian than Swedish although chat GPT characterized it as a “traditional restaurant”. Pre-fixed pretty good value.

RHODES

Old Town

Mama Sofia - Greek & Seafood place in Rhodes right near old town. Really good sat back in the garden. Seems like the owner comes over and talks to everyone who sits back there. Fish soup great. Fried feta cheese with honey and sesame seeds great appetizer. Lots of wine to choose from as well.

Lindos

🫜 Panos - kind of a nondescript place right on the main beach in Lindos. The deal is, if you buy $75 worth of food and drinks during the day you can use theirs beds and umbrellas. The food is so good though it’s kind of shocking. Greek Salad one of the best I’ve ever had - unique. Mushroom appetizer amazing as well.  3 kinds of Ceviche and really Interesting cocktails too!

🫜 Cesar Meze Bar - rooftop place right in the middle of Lindos. Like 300 ft. from our house. Great food, expensive. If you want high end right in Lindos this is a good choice.

Broccolino - cute place, high demand.  Lucky to get in. Food is great, atmosphere very chill. If you’re in Lindos try this one.

Taverna Kamariko - rooftop with views, menu more on the traditional side, which is good. Free desserts. Jennie is not in love with the service but it’s more in the typical sense of European dining in my mind. Food was good would like to try it again.

Agostinos Restaurant -  On the back side of Lindos. We chose this because the menu had a seafood moussaka, which is unusual. I had the lamb klefika and both were excellent. Very good baklava and end view is, as with many restaurants in Lindos amazing. Not much in the way of ambiance but we were the only ones there as it was 5:00.

🫜 Mavrikos - right in the square in Lindos so it could get overlooked as touristy (we have a list of restaurants from a local bartender so we know). Won some Greek culinary medals and was written up in the NYT. Best food in Greece so far. Fried Sardines so good. Stuffed calamari amazing. So many more things on the menu to try. Good not great (for Lindos) view, service excellent.

🫜 Almyra - Right above the main beach in Lindos but above the fray. Great atmosphere and location. Food was amazing they have some inventive dishes where they take some staples like lasagna and tiramisu and deconstruct them. They were all great and interesting. One of the best in Lindos.

Kamiros Skala

Althemenis Fish Restaurant - If you find yourself in Kamiros Skala this is one of your choices for seafood  get the seafood and barley (orzo). Really good best baklava of the trip. Right on the ocean on a sunny day beautiful. Hard to get to but if you can.

🫜 Estate Anastasia Triantafyllou - It’s a fixed menu but you get like five courses i’m the middle of their vineyard. Wine tasting for 5 Euro. Food is fresh and amazing, the limit of the fixed menu should not deter you from going here, if you happen to be in the Butterfly Valley or at the petting zoo or just around.
